Lip lift

Beautiful, full lips are not only a decoration of the face, but also the key to greater self-confidence. Although many people reach for hyaluronic acid, its effect is short-lived and requires regular treatments. If you dream of a permanent metamorphosis that will emphasize the natural beauty of your lips, lip lift is the solution that will help you achieve it.

Unlike fillers, this procedure allows you to permanently lift and enhance the upper lip, providing a naturally full appearance of the lips, without the need for constant corrections. Lip lift is the key to beautiful, proportionate lips and effects that will stay with you for years.

What is and what does

a lip lift procedure involve?

Lip lift is a surgical aesthetic procedure that permanently lifts and enlarges the upper lip. The key element of the procedure is to shorten the distance between the base of the nose and the upper lip, which causes more of the red part of the lip to be exposed and optically enlarges the lips. Thanks to this, the effect is natural, and the lips gain a fuller appearance.

The procedure is different from other lip augmentation methods, such as hyaluronic acid fillers, because it provides permanent results. The procedure involves surgically removing a small section of skin just below the nose – usually in the shape of a “bullhorn” (a so-called bullhorn lip lift). The result is fuller lips that still look natural. The procedure can also improve the overall proportions of the lower face, making it appear younger.

What are the indications

for the procedure?

Lip lift is the perfect solution for people who:

  • want to permanently enlarge their upper lip without using temporary fillers,
  • have too much distance between their nose and upper lip, which makes their lips look small and narrow,
  • they notice that with age their upper lip has become thinner or drooping,
  • they have a problem with lip asymmetry and want to even out the proportions of their lips,
  • they struggle with drooping corners of their mouths, which gives their face a sad, tired expression.

What does the procedur

look like?

The procedure begins with a consultation, during which the surgeon assesses the proportions of the patient’s face, the shape of the lips, and the condition of the patient’s skin. On this basis, the appropriate technique is selected and a procedure plan is prepared. The entire procedure takes about 45-60 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia, which minimizes the patient’s discomfort.

Before starting the procedure, the surgeon precisely marks the place of the incision just under the nose – in the natural crease of the skin to minimize the visibility of the future scar. Most often, the incision is shaped like a bull’s horn (hence the name “bullhorn”), which allows for precise excision of excess skin from this area.

Removing this skin fragment shortens the distance between the upper lip and the nose, which leads to the red lip turning upwards.

Only a small amount of skin is removed during the operation, which guarantees a natural final effect – the lips will not look excessively enlarged, and the face will gain an aesthetic appearance. After removing the excess skin, the surgeon precisely sews the wound with thin stitches, which are placed in such a way that the scar is almost invisible after healing. The effects of lip lift are visible immediately after the procedure, but the full results can be assessed after about two weeks, when the swelling subsides and the wound heals completely.

How to prepare

for the procedure?

Before the procedure, a consultation with a plastic surgeon is necessary, who will assess the patient’s health and qualify him for surgery.

For 2 weeks before the procedure, you should avoid medications that affect blood clotting. It is also important to give up smoking, which can negatively affect the healing process.

What are the recommendations

after the procedure?

After the procedure, a delicate dressing is placed over the incision site, which must remain intact until the stitches are removed, usually after 7 days. Patients are advised to avoid intense facial expressions, laughter, and eating hard foods so as not to stretch the skin around the mouth.

In the first few days after the procedure, it is advisable to follow a liquid diet (e.g. soups and smoothies) and avoid intense physical activity. Sunscreen should also be used to help the scar heal properly.

What are the contraindications

to the procedure?

  • diabetes,
  • circulatory system diseases,
  • blood clotting disorders,
  • active skin infections (herpes, acne),
  • autoimmune diseases,
  • oncological treatment,
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding.
